Hovering around the axes of macro vs. micro and personal vs. political, Cars & Trains (Tom Filepp) shares abstracted parables of existential yearning ("Every Morning"), cycles of creation and destruction ("Bridges"), and sympathetic laments for the dumpster fire of post-truth America. Fictions, recorded and mixed by Cars & Trains at his Portland home studio, was inspired by Fripp & Eno, the bass of King Crimson, the timbre of '67-80 Miles Davis, recent sociopolitical events, and the writings of Borges.
